Tuesday in San Lorenzo
My host family is so wonderful! Mama is Silvia, Dad is Marco and three daughters, Giana 11, Brunela, 15 and Marina, 17 years old.
A funny story about meeting them:
They read my bio in Spanish on a web site. When I typed the word for designer, with a tilda on the N, the N got changed to a G, and the word then meant Taxidermist! So, they asked me about my job and Silvia asked if I was a taxidermist. I thought for sure I didn´t understand what she was saying (because I have understood about 20 percent of what is going on so far!) until she explained the computer problem. We laughed and laughed about that one.
There are many reason to laugh and the language barrier is definitely one! I was talking about eating fish: pescado, but the word for sin is very close to that: pecado. So, I have to be careful, there, too! (Me gusta pescado, not pecado!)
We visited a soybean processing plant today. We got a full tour complete with hard hats. I have some photos, which I will post when I have a faster connection.
The family I am staying with is wonderful and I´m so excited to be here. We do our first presentation for the San Lorenzo Rotary group tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it.
